How To Wear Primary Colors
As we draw deeper into Spring and closer to Summer, color is enticing me again. I am a woman who loves a great all black outfit because it’s the easiest way to look chic and put together. However, color can be part of your wardrobe and there are ways to use theories we learned in grade school about primary and secondary colors to help us create an outfit that is daring and complements us.
For this outfit, I decided to use the basics of the primary colors: red, yellow and blue. These colors are the foundation of color in general. Putting them together can work beautifully as long as you keep in mind your shape, your undertones and of course your style.
Here are some easy ways to take red, yellow and blue to a great outfit for all your daytime errands and outings.
1. Make Denim Your Blue
This doesn’t have to be hard! Denim is the easiest way to bring blue into your outfit. Choose a wash that you like. If you want to be dressier go with a dark wash and keep the light washes for more casual outings.
2. Choose a top in either red or yellow or simply layer them both together.
This does not have to be plain. You can choose a yellow and red printed blouse. Another options is to do what I did by using a mesh top and a cami underneath for easy breezy colorful layers.
3. Make your accessories stand out in a print of all three colors.
Well obviously this beautiful African printed clutch was the inspiration that started this outfit idea! My sister gifted this to me and I’ve adored it so much. It’s been waiting for the right outfit to help it become center stage and here it is.
Remember using color brings your outfit to life and solidifies your PRIMARY intentions of your style.
